Privacy Policy — TikTok Comment Reader

The TikTok Comment Reader Chrome extension (the “Extension”) is a tool that lets you pick a random comment from a TikTok video you are currently watching.

What the Extension does

• Detects when you are on a TikTok video page (URLs matching *://*.tiktok.com/@*/video/*) and adds a floating “🎲 Random comment” button to the page.
• When you click that button, opens a new browser tab to a page bundled inside the Extension (chrome-extension://<extension-id>/reader.html).
• The reader page sends a request to TikTok’s own public comment API (https://www.tiktok.com/api/comment/list/). This request includes your existing TikTok session cookies, which your browser attaches automatically. This is the same authentication you use when you visit TikTok yourself.
• The response (one comment chosen by index) is parsed as JSON and rendered in the reader tab as text.

What data the Extension accesses

• Your TikTok session cookies, indirectly. The Extension never reads, copies, or stores your cookies. It issues a fetch request to tiktok.com with credentials: "include", and your browser attaches the cookies on the Extension’s behalf. The Extension does not see the cookie values.
• The video ID from the page URL. Read from location.pathname to know which video to fetch comments for. Not transmitted anywhere except as part of the request to TikTok’s own API.

What the Extension does NOT do

• Does not collect, transmit, or store any data on any server other than TikTok’s own.
• Does not include any analytics, telemetry, error reporting, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind.
• Does not modify TikTok’s pages beyond injecting a single floating button.
• Does not read or modify the content of any other website.
• Does not save anything to local storage, sync storage, IndexedDB, or any other persistent location.
• Does not transmit any data to the Extension author or any third party.

Third-party services

The only network request the Extension makes is to TikTok’s own API. Your interaction with TikTok is governed by TikTok’s own privacy policy and terms of service: https://www.tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy
